Patient-Centered Care: Health Equity
All patients deserve safe, high quality care. Surgery centers should identify and mitigate health care disparities due to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identify at the point of care. Leapfrog has added questions to assess what actions surgery centers are taking to identify and reduce health care disparities. These questions will not be scored or publicly reported in 2023.
Facility and Surgeon Volume Standards for Bariatric Surgery for Weight Loss
Three decades of research have consistently demonstrated that patients who have their surgery performed at a facility and by a surgeon with more experience have better outcomes, including lower complication rates. Leapfrog has added questions to assess facility and surgeon volume for bariatric surgery gor weight loss. These questions will not be scored or publicly reported until 2024.
